Water Meter Installation for 208 Mickey Dunn Stadium Apr 21, 2026 06:30-08:30 EDT

Impact Details:

Description & Location: Water service to the building will be temporarily shut off to support the installation of a new water meter. This outage will affect the entire facility.

Schedule: Tuesday, April 21 from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Reason: This shutdown is necessary to complete the installation of a new water meter for the building. Installing a new water meter will improve accuracy in tracking usage, supports early leak detection, and helps ensure reliable system performance.

Logistics: During the outage, restrooms, sinks, and all other water-dependent fixtures will be unavailable. No building access restrictions are expected beyond the temporary loss of water service.

Scheduled - Impact Details:
Description & Location: A contractor will be replacing a window on the 4th floor of the Southeast stairwell (closest to the main entrance) of the Social Science Building.

Schedule: Friday, April 17, from 9:00–12:00 p.m.

Reason: The window replacement is necessary to preserve the building envelope and ensure the stairwell remains safe and fully functional.

Logistics: KSU will assist the contractor by blocking off the surrounding area of the nearby entrance to allow safe operation of the aerial lift truck. For safety reasons, the stairwell (1st-5th floor) will be closed during the installation, and the surrounding area outside will be closed the day prior to prevent foot traffic and minimize potential hazards. While the window replacement itself is expected to take a couple of hours, access restrictions will remain in place for a few hours until the area is clear and the work is safely completed.

Verifying - The lighting upgrade reached substantial completion as of end of day yesterday. Contractors will remain on site through the end of next week to complete fine‑tuning and detail work. This includes cleaning, adjusting and securing light covers, ensuring consistent color temperatures throughout the building, and straightening fixtures in the studio and other affected areas.

We do not anticipate major disruptions during this phase, but minor activity may still be noticeable as the team completes these final adjustments.

Description: This project includes replacing existing light fixtures and installing new lighting controls and switches. During this work, some areas may experience temporary disruptions, including brief periods of reduced or no lighting and limited access while installations are underway.
Schedule & Locations:
Work will occur on weekdays from 5:00 AM–1:00 PM (with 9:00 AM–1:00 PM reserved for areas clear of occupants) and on weekends.
Floor-by-floor schedule (subject to minor adjustments as the project progresses):
Ground floor & 1st floor: January 26
1st floor: January 26-February 23
2nd floor: February 16-March 9
3rd floor: March 2-March 31
Specific areas NOT included:
Ground floor: N003 (building systems lab), N007 (project archives), N014 (wood shop)
1st floor: N173-N176 (classrooms), N145 (jury gallery), N103 (gallery)
3rd floor: N310 (CDAC studio), N315 (student lounge)
Window stair area on all floors
Reason: This upgrade will enhance energy efficiency across KSU by reducing wattage through LED lighting installation and lowering operational hours through automated controls and dimming capabilities. These improvements will help decrease overall energy consumption.
Logistics: Work will progress floor by floor, beginning on the ground level and moving upward to the 3rd floor. A storage container will be placed near the chiller yard to house project materials and will be positioned to avoid disrupting daily operations. Weekend work may be added as needed to maintain the project schedule. Project managers will continue coordinating directly with building occupants and will provide ongoing updates throughout the duration of the work.

Scheduled - Impact Details:

Description & Location: Water service to the building will be temporarily shut off to support the installation of a new water meter. This outage will affect the entire facility.

Schedule: Tuesday, April 7 from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Reason: This shutdown is necessary to complete the installation of a new water meter for the building. Installing a new water meter will improve accuracy in tracking usage, supports early leak detection, and helps ensure reliable system performance.

Logistics: During the outage, restrooms, sinks, and all other water-dependent fixtures will be unavailable. No building access restrictions are expected beyond the temporary loss of water service.
