Update - During the installation of the new motor, the technician identified an additional issue that requires a replacement board. The contractor anticipates the part to arrive sometime between Tuesday, March 3 through Wednesday, March 4. The elevator will remain out of service until the new part is installed.

Update - The contractor is on site today, Thursday, February 26 to install the necessary parts and complete the repairs. We anticipate that the elevator will be back in service by the end of business, pending successful installation and testing.

Identified - There is a current elevator outage inside the Technology Services building.
  
Current Known Impact:  
The elevator door motor requires full replacement. As a result, elevator service will remain unavailable in this building until repairs are completed. The estimated completion date is still to be determined.

Scheduled - Impact Details: 
Description: This project includes replacing existing light fixtures and installing new lighting controls and switches. During this work, some areas may experience temporary disruptions, including brief periods of reduced or no lighting and limited access while installations are underway.
Schedule & Locations:
Work will occur on weekdays from 5:00 AM–1:00 PM (with 9:00 AM–1:00 PM reserved for areas clear of occupants) and on weekends.
Floor-by-floor schedule (subject to minor adjustments as the project progresses):
Ground floor & 1st floor: January 26
1st floor: January 26-February 23
2nd floor: February 16-March 9
3rd floor: March 2-March 31
Specific areas NOT included:
Ground floor: N003 (building systems lab), N007 (project archives), N014 (wood shop)
1st floor: N173-N176 (classrooms), N145 (jury gallery), N103 (gallery)
3rd floor: N310 (CDAC studio), N315 (student lounge)
Window stair area on all floors
Reason: This upgrade will enhance energy efficiency across KSU by reducing wattage through LED lighting installation and lowering operational hours through automated controls and dimming capabilities. These improvements will help decrease overall energy consumption.
Logistics: Work will progress floor by floor, beginning on the ground level and moving upward to the 3rd floor. A storage container will be placed near the chiller yard to house project materials and will be positioned to avoid disrupting daily operations. Weekend work may be added as needed to maintain the project schedule. Project managers will continue coordinating directly with building occupants and will provide ongoing updates throughout the duration of the work.

Scheduled Utility Maintenance - HVAC Shut-Off, Carmichael Student Center, March 9 and 10 Mar 9, 2026 05:00 - Mar 11, 2026 05:00 EDT

In relation to ongoing construction of the new Welcome Center, a temporary HVAC shut off will occur on March 9 and 10 during the hours of 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This will affect airflow in the Welcome Center, the Bookstore, the Food Court, Talon One Services, and Study Space areas. Due to forecasted weather conditions, we anticipate the building temperatures to be warmer than usual.

Scheduled Road/Lane Closure - Technology Way, March 12 and 13 Mar 12, 2026 05:00 - Mar 14, 2026 05:00 EDT

On Thursday and Friday, March 12 and 13, a single-lane closure will be in effect on Technology Way at the iSTEM building to accommodate ongoing construction. Flaggers will be present to direct the flow of traffic in both directions. Please use caution when traveling through this area.

Update - New Information:
Repairs to the pump have been further delayed due to additional issues identified during inspection. If work continues as expected, the system should be restored later tonight.
Most areas in the building are now holding between 72–78 degrees, with temperatures continuing to rise. Plant Operations will continue to monitor conditions throughout the day.

Identified - Current Known Impact: 
The chilled water pump at Sturgis Library developed a leak that quickly escalated into a critical failure. The contractor was contacted to inspect the issue, and their technicians initially identified faulty shaft seals and bearings. During disassembly, they discovered the pump shaft is warped, preventing proper sealing and normal operation.

Contractors continue to work on the chilled water pump, which has now been fully removed and taken off‑site for repairs. Until the repairs are completed and the pump is reinstalled, the building will remain without cooling.
