About KSU Services Status Page

The Kennesaw State University Services Status page provides real-time updates on the operational status and maintenance of essential KSU services, including Information Technology and Utilities and Engineering.

Update - Current Known Impact:
The HVAC system for the Music Building is currently not operational. This does not affect MU109 Recital Hall, as it is served by a separate HVAC unit. If your area contains sensitive equipment, it is advisable to store it in the Recital Hall or an alternative location.
Temperatures are mild this morning at approximately 69 degrees. However, the forecast indicates that the high may reach up to 79 degrees today, which will result in temperature increases within the building.

New Information: 
The contractor is continuing repair work and has identified additional parts that needed to be ordered. Work will proceed diligently through today and into next week, with completion anticipated by Friday, October 24.

Action Required:
Please assess conditions in your area and report any critical issues that may impact comfort or safety. As internal temperatures may rise throughout the day, class relocation should be considered where appropriate. According to the forecast, outdoor temperatures are expected to remain mild, with highs in the low 70s and overnight lows in the mid 40s.

Update - The Plant Operations team and the contractor are on-site performing repairs. They will be working diligently throughout the day and possibly into tomorrow. The completion timeline depends on the availability of necessary parts.

Current Known Impact:
The HVAC system for the Music Building is currently non-operational. This should not affect the Recital Hall, as it is served by a separate HVAC unit. If your area contains sensitive equipment, it may be advisable to store it there.

The contractor has been notified, and a technician is scheduled to begin assessment and repairs first thing tomorrow morning. At this time, we are currently unable to provide a confirmed completion date/time for repairs.

Update - Update on Town Point Lighting upgrade: The contractor has completed all light replacements. They are currently working on upgrading the control systems and expect to finish this process by the end of the day on Saturday, October 18. The programming team responsible for the controls is scheduled to be on-site in November to complete the necessary programming work.

Scheduled - Contractors begin work on July 15 in public areas on the 1st and 2nd floors from 5:00–9:00 AM to minimize disruption. Starting July 21, daytime work (7:00 AM–4:00 PM) will be scheduled with occupants. The project upgrades lighting to improve energy efficiency through LED fixtures, automation, and dimming, reducing energy use. Existing fixtures will be replaced, and new controls installed, potentially causing temporary outages and limited access. Vacating sections will expedite progress. Work will proceed from the 1st to the 5th floor, with possible weekend shifts. Project managers will coordinate and provide updates.

Schedule:
1st and 2nd floor: July 15 (halls and storage spaces only)
1st floor: July 21 - Aug 15
2nd floor: Aug 8 – Sep 5
3rd floor: Sep 1 – Sep 26
4th floor: Sep 19 – Oct 31
5th floor: Sep 26– Oct 31

• Weekdays 5:00 AM - 9:00 AM
• Weekdays 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (when the area is cleared and vacancy is pre-scheduled with occupants)

Update - Updated Schedule:
July 21- TU installation begins on the 3rd floor, 6am -6pm, Monday – Saturday.
July 25 - TU demolition begins on the 2nd floor with completion by July 31.
Aug 1 - TU demolition begins on the 1st floor with completion by Aug 7.
Aug 7 - TU demolition will begin on the 4th floor with completion by Aug 13.
Aug 13 - TU demo & installation 5th floor, if the project is on schedule for Aug 16 completion. Alternatively, this will be scheduled during Thanksgiving break or during the weekends

Impact: The project will increase temperature levels, as the HVAC system will be offline during installation. Sections of the ceiling will be exposed and may reveal some mechanical components. Noise levels associated with the project are expected to be minimal.

Update - Crane operations are now completed. Floors 4 and 5 are now accessible and can resume normal activities. All entrances on the first floor are open. Please be advised that Bartow Avenue will remain closed until the crane has been removed from the roadway. A notification will be issued once the street reopens.

Update - Updated timeline for the TU and ERU project.
- June 30 – TU demolition will begin on the 3rd floor and the main air handler for the floor will be turned off and will be turned on by July 10.
-July 7 – Bartow Avenue will be closed for the crane and equipment to arrival.
-July 8 – 9, Crane work begins, the 4th and 5th floors must be vacated to accommodate ERU crane lift.
- July 14 -15, Crane work resumes, 4th and 5th floors must be vacated to accommodate ERU crane lift.
-July 21 - TU installation begins on the 3rd floor, 6am -6pm, Monday – Saturday
-July 25 - TU demolition begins on the 2nd floor with completion by July 31st.
-Aug 1st - TU demolition begins on the 5th floor with completion by Aug 7th
-Aug 7th - TU demolition will begin on the 4th floor with completion by Aug 13th
-Aug 13th - TU demo & installation 1st floor, IF on schedule for Aug 16th completion. Alternate schedule will be Thanksgiving or weekends

Scheduled - We will be performing major scheduled utility maintenance at 402 Social Sciences starting on June 23 through August 7.
Impact: This project involves replacing the Terminal Units and the Energy Recovery Unit for the building. The project will be taking place at the Social Sciences building, but other surrounding areas including Bartow Avenue and the Visual Arts Loading Dock areas will be impacted.
On June 23, the Terminal Unit replacement will begin with floor protection and ceiling removal on the fifth floor, progressing downward through the building.
From June 30 through August 7, TU demolition will be taking place on a different floor each week. During this time, the main air handler for the floor will be turned off.
From July 7-9, Bartow Avenue will be closed due to the crane and other equipment that will be used to install the new Energy Recovery Unit. On July 8-9, the 4th and 5th floors will need to be vacated.
