The Kennesaw State University Services Status page provides real-time updates on the operational status and maintenance of essential KSU services, including Information Technology and Utilities and Engineering.

Monitoring - Update
-The source of the gas leak has been identified and successfully repaired.
-All campus gas, power, and technology services have been fully restored.

Current Known Impact
Construction work is still underway in the area where contractors accessed the conduit for repairs. This is located along the sidewalk path between the Engineering Lab and Design 1 Buildings. Please avoid this area, as it contains broken concrete, heavy machinery, and deep trenches.

Timeline
Contractors will continue to work on this project through the end of the week.

Logistics
For safety, please advise patrons to use alternate routes and avoid the affected sidewalk.

Update - Current Known Impacts:
The outage will fully impact Marietta, including:
-Access to on-premises systems and services that depend on campus networking
-Wired and wireless network connectivity
-The academic and administrative buildings, except the Recreation and Wellness Center, on the Marietta Campus are currently without heat and hot water.
-The Academic Building (H) currently has no power and is closed.
-Some elevators on the Marietta Campus are temporarily out of service during this time.
-The Johnson Library is also closed.
-Big Owl Bus service remains available between both campuses.
-Students with classes on the Marietta Campus should contact their faculty or login to D2L regarding any changes to their classes during modified operations.

Update - The contractor has engaged the manufacturer to obtain further clarification regarding the issue; however, no definitive answers are available at this time. The system continues to operate at approximately half capacity, so while performance is limited, it remains functional. Given the current mild weather forecast, we do not anticipate significant discomfort within the building.

Identified - -The heating component within the HVAC system for the Music Building is currently not operational. This does not affect MU109 Recital Hall, as it is served by a separate HVAC unit. If your area contains sensitive equipment, it is advisable to store it in the Recital Hall or an alternative location.
-The contractor has identified a significant system malfunction and is actively working to complete the necessary repairs.
-Technicians will place additional heaters in designated areas throughout the building to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Update - Update on Town Point Lighting upgrade: The contractor has completed all light replacements. They are currently working on upgrading the control systems and expect to finish this process by the end of the day on Saturday, October 18. The programming team responsible for the controls is scheduled to be on-site in November to complete the necessary programming work.

Scheduled - Contractors begin work on July 15 in public areas on the 1st and 2nd floors from 5:00–9:00 AM to minimize disruption. Starting July 21, daytime work (7:00 AM–4:00 PM) will be scheduled with occupants. The project upgrades lighting to improve energy efficiency through LED fixtures, automation, and dimming, reducing energy use. Existing fixtures will be replaced, and new controls installed, potentially causing temporary outages and limited access. Vacating sections will expedite progress. Work will proceed from the 1st to the 5th floor, with possible weekend shifts. Project managers will coordinate and provide updates.

1st floor: July 21 - Aug 15
2nd floor: Aug 8 – Sep 5

Scheduled - Impact Details: 
Description & Location: Waterproofing activities will be conducted on the exterior windows of the fifth floor of Kennesaw Hall. A lift will be used to access the work area.
Schedule: Work will begin on the east side of the fifth floor and subsequently move to the west side. The project is scheduled daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, November 22, through Tuesday, November 25.
Purpose: Window waterproofing is necessary to protect interior building spaces from water intrusion, enhance energy efficiency, and maintain the structural integrity of the facility.
Logistics: 
During east-side operations, the second-floor entrance adjacent to the parking area on Cobb Avenue will be closed, along with the nearby segment of Cobb Avenue. Building access will remain available through the south entrance, the west entrance across from Bagwell and the Rotunda at the southwest corner.
Work on the west side of the fifth floor is not expected to affect pedestrian routes or activities on the Campus Green. Crews will operate primarily along the building’s exterior. The lift will be delivered to the fire lane driveway between Burruss and Bagwell, where the contractor’s vehicle will remain parked for the duration of the project.
The contractor will not require interior access to the fifth floor or to the President’s suite.

Scheduled - Impact Details
Description & Location: The primary Science Lab Elevator will be undergoing major repairs.
Schedule: The elevator will be offline throughout the entire day on Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25.
Reason:  Technicians will be conducting critical repairs to the elevator to improve safety and reliability.
Logistics: Alternatively, the two elevators located within the Science Building provide access to floors 2 through 4 only. The Science Lab Addition can be accessed through the main entrance off the 2nd floor or through the South stairwell area, particularly for access to floors 3 through 4.

Scheduled - Impact Details:
Description & Location: The northern elevator in the P60 Parking Deck, adjacent to the Engineering Technology Center, will be offline for a pit alarm system replacement. Crews will also assess the southern elevator near Stingers Dining Hall for potential part replacement. The southern elevator will be offline shortly for assessment once the northern elevator is brought back online.
Schedule: Monday, November 24, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Reason: This proactive maintenance addresses water intrusion and hydraulic leak detection. The pit alarm system alerts us when water levels rise, helping prevent costly damage and extended downtime.
Logistics: To support continuous access, at least one elevator will remain operational throughout the maintenance period.

Description & Location: The plumbing system for the Atrium Building will undergo critical maintenance.
Schedule: The water will be shut off for 8 hours to conduct repairs starting at 8:00 AM on Monday, November 24.
Reason:  The contractor will be installing backflow prevention devices in the plumbing system to enhance reliability and ensure our water supply system is in compliance with safety standards.
Logistics: This will affect the domestic water supply lines on all floors, including those connected to water fountains, sinks, toilets, and equipment utilizing water. The fire suppression sprinkler system will remain unaffected.
