The work is now complete. All building domestic water and fire sprinkler systems have been restored and are operating normally. Concrete sidewalk repairs at the valve replacement area are scheduled for tomorrow, as today’s low temperatures prevented proper curing conditions.

On Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30, an isolation valve located at Bartow Avenue, adjacent to the Visual Arts building, will be replaced. This work will require a temporary water outage affecting the following buildings: Academic Learning Center (ALC), Music, English, Wilson, University Hall, Willingham Hall, Social Sciences, Pilcher, Visual Arts, Public Safety, and the Library.
During this outage, clean water will be unavailable in these buildings. Water pressure for fire pumps will also be lost, resulting in fire suppression systems being offline. Public Safety will conduct “Fire Walks” for the affected locations.
Schedule: Work will begin at 7AM on Monday, December 29 and is expected to conclude by the end of the day on Tuesday, December 30.
Reason: The outage is necessary to replace a failing isolation valve. Replacing the isolation valve will help prevent leaks, improve reliability, and ensure safe, efficient water service.
Logistics: Minor traffic disruptions may occur on Bartow Avenue as a hydrovac truck will be parked on the side closest to the Visual Arts building. These impacts should be minimal. Once the valve replacement is complete and water service is restored, affected buildings will be flushed to remove any discoloration or silt that may have entered the system.
